Education is fundamental to progress; without higher education, the process of development is not possible. Gwadar University will be made a centre of excellence for maritime research and technical education. Speaking to the faculty and students of the University of Gwadar, Minister for Planning and Development and Special Initiative Prof. Ahsan Iqbal expressed regret that the university is still operating in a makeshift facility after four years and that no effort has been made to build a campus. On demand by the Vice Chancellor, he assured that the University of Gwadar's project PC-1 would be approved within a month and that within three years, the university buildings will be ready for the university to be shifted to its own campus.

The University of Gwadar hosted the event on May 17, 2022, in the University Seminar Hall. Prof. Ahsan Iqbal, Federal Minister for Planning and Development and Special Initiatives, addressed the students of the University of Gwadar as the event's chief guest.

Our government's vision is to prioritize infrastructure as well as human development so that every youth of Balochistan can get opportunity of good education. He said that it is his vision the University of Gwadar become a hub of learning where anyone who wants to do research for Maritime Affairs in Pakistan should study at the University of Gwadar and we had agreed with China in the previous tenure for this purpose that the University of Gwadar and Maritime Affairs in China and there will also be a strategic partnership so that teachers and students can come here and participate in the Semester Exchange Scholarship Program. Our government strives to provide higher education and better facilities to students across Balochistan.

Vice Chancellor University of Gwadar Prof. Dr. Abdul Razzaq Sabir in his welcome remarks thanked the Federal Minister for Planning and Development Prof. Ahsan Iqbal for taking keen interest in the higher education and development of Gwadar University.

At the end of the event, University of Gwadar Vice Chancellor Prof. Abdul Razzaq Sabir presented the University Memorial Shield to the guests and made them wear traditional Balochi Chadir.
