Quality Enhancement Cell

Introduction

The Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC) at the University of Gwadar was established in 2017 to enhance the quality of teaching and learning across various programs of the university. It works to improve the overall quality of education by identifying areas that need development and promoting better learning experiences. The QEC encourages collaboration among teachers, staff, and students to share ideas, adopt best practices, and explore innovative approaches to make teaching and learning more effective. The cell at University of Gwadar operates under the guidelines of the Quality Assurance Agency of the Higher Education Commission (QAA-HEC) Pakistan, and it also ensures that its efforts align with national quality standards. Since its establishment, the QEC has made significant progress, with all its initiatives carefully documented and regularly reviewed to ensure continuous improvement.

To establish the University of Gwadar as a quality-conscious higher education institution that adheres to HEC’s protocols and international quality standards.

Mission

To support academic departments and administration in setting and maintaining quality standards aligned with HEC guidelines and global trends. The QEC seeks to ensure compliance, foster creativity, and deliver quality education that promotes innovation and growth.

Functions of Quality Enhancement Cell

As per HEC, the key functions of the QEC include:

  • Reporting directly to the Vice-Chancellor and serving as a liaison with external bodies.
  • Enhancing public confidence in the quality and standards of degree awards.
  • Conducting regular progress review meetings to assess performance and address challenges, successes, and best practices.
  • Managing academic affiliations to maintain standards and program quality.
  • Defining clear standards as benchmarks for evaluations and guiding employees on expectations.
  • Applying the Pakistan Qualification Framework for curriculum development.
  • Setting annual targets in collaboration with the institution, based on revised criteria of QAA-HEC, to align with overall quality enhancement goals.
  • Implementing quality assurance measures across the institution to improve teaching, learning, and academic programs.
  • Monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of quality enhancement initiatives to ensure alignment with institutional goals.

Achievements

  • Three Program Self-Assessment Reports (SARs) have been completed so far.
  • Online Teacher and Course Evaluations are conducted in all seven departments.
