University of Gwadar Successfully Concludes Three-Day Training Workshop on Media Literacy and Digital Rights

The University of Gwadar, in collaboration with Individualand Pakistan, successfully concluded a three-day training workshop on Media Literacy and Digital Rights, held from 1st to 3rd December 2025 in the university’s main seminar hall. The workshop aimed to equip students with essential skills for the safe, responsible, and ethical use of digital media in the modern era. The opening ceremony was presided over by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Abdul Razzaq Sabir, and attended by Registrar Dr. Dolat Khan, Controller of Examinations Dr. Rahim Bakhsh Mehr, Director of Finance Rehmatullah, and Director ORIC Dr. Muhammad Irshad, faculty members, administrative officers, and a large number of students. In his address, the Vice Chancellor highlighted the growing importance of educating youth about digital responsibility. He emphasized that while digital media offers vast opportunities, its irresponsible use often leads to misunderstandings and social unrest. Therefore, young people must be trained to use media positively, ethically, and effectively. He noted that such workshops significantly enhance students’ professional competencies and prepare them to meet future digital challenges. He further appreciated the Government of Balochistan for its efforts to empower youth with modern digital skills. Throughout the workshop, trainers provided participants with detailed insights into modern media requirements, accuracy of information, news verification, media ethics, digital rights, and online safety. Interactive sessions and practical exercises kept participants engaged and strengthened their understanding of responsible digital behavior. From the University of Gwadar, trained facilitators from Individualland Pakistan—including Dilawar Khan, Farooq Haider, Sangin Waleed, Shama Suleman, and Public Relations Officer Naseer Muhammad- conducted the sessions and guided participants professionally. In a special message, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Abdul Razzaq Sabir reaffirmed the University’s commitment to promoting media literacy and responsible online conduct. He stated that such initiatives not only enhance students’ digital understanding but also instill a strong sense of social responsibility. The workshop concluded with a certificate distribution ceremony, where the efforts of the trainers and the collaborating team from Individualland Pakistan were acknowledged. The three-day event ended successfully with active student participation and a productive learning environment.
