The eighth meeting of the Academic Council of the University of Gwadar was held on April 15, 2025, in the conference room of the CPEC Study Center at the Pak-China Technical & Vocational Institute.
Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Abdul Razzaq Sabir chaired the meeting. Attendees included Pro Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Syed Manzoor Ahmed, Dr. Amjad Hussain (Representative, Higher Education Commission, Pakistan), Aftab Nehmat (representative, Higher Education Department, GoB), Dr. Jan Muhammad (Dean, Social Sciences), Dr. Mohib Ullah (Dean, Sciences), Dr. Rahim Bakhsh (Controller of Examinations), and other members.
The council also approved the proceedings of the third meeting of the Board of Studies of Education, the Relevance Assessment Committee's report for Management Sciences, and the course codes for the four-year BBA program.
The meeting also deliberated on significant academic matters, focusing on strengthening the university's academic structure and aligning it with national higher education standards, which resulted in several key decisions. In his opening remarks, Vice Chancellor Dr. Sabir highlighted the university’s academic progress and its vital role in the socio-economic development of the region. He also appreciated the support from the faculty, administration, Chancellor’s Office, HEC, and the Government of Balochistan.
The council approved and endorsed the proceedings and decisions of the 7th Academic Council meeting held on November 8, 2024, as well as the implementation of those decisions. Additionally, the proceedings of the third Board of Studies meeting of the academic department, the report of the Relevance Assessment Committee for Management Sciences, and the inclusion of course codes for the four-year BBA program were approved to ensure curriculum alignment.
Furthermore, the HEC National Fee Refund Policy 2024 and the Graduate Policy (GPE) 2023 by HEC were approved to bring the university’s administrative affairs in line with national educational standards. The Academic Calendar for 2025 was also approved. A new curriculum policy for the BS Zoology program, including fisheries, was passed, focusing on the coastal ecosystem.
