- 04 Dec, 2025
On the occasion of International Anti-Corruption Day, a significant seminar was organized under the auspices of NAB Balochistan, featuring the theme “Unite with Youth Against Corruption & Shaping Tomorrow’s Integrity.” Students, teachers, representatives of civil society, and individuals from various walks of life attended the event.
The chief guests of the seminar were Vice Chancellor of the University of Gwadar, Professor Dr. Abdul Razzaq Sabir; Deputy Inspector General of Police, Makran Range, Dr. Parvez Umrani; and NAB Director Haroon ur Rasheed. The speakers highlighted the social, economic, and moral effects of corruption and underscored its strong adverse effect on society.
In their speeches, the speakers stated that corruption is like a cancer that has permeated every segment and institution of society. They noted that despite being rich in natural resources, Pakistan has lagged in development due to corruption. In the 1950s and 1960s, Pakistan used to lend money to other countries, but today it is dependent on international financial institutions.
The speakers pointed out that nepotism, vested interests, adulteration, and violations of merit have weakened the social structure. They said that every child is born under the burden of debt, yet the nation remains largely unaware of this reality. They further stated that sustenance has already been decreed by God; whether one earns through lawful or unlawful means does not increase its amount—what differs is dignity or disgrace.
The organizers also screened two documentary films on corruption during the seminar, and the participants watched them with interest. At the conclusion of the ceremony, cash prizes were distributed among the three top-position-holding students of Gwadar.
On this occasion, the official guests also participated in an anti-corruption awareness walk held in the PCTVI premises. The purpose of the walk was to raise awareness among youth against corruption and to promote a collective commitment toward creating a transparent, honest, and responsible society.
