The 6th meeting of the Board of Studies (BoS) of the Department of Education, University of Gwadar, was held at the PCT&VI Conference Room to deliberate upon key academic and curricular matters aimed at further strengthening the quality and relevance of teacher education programmes at the University. The meeting was chaired by Dr. Rabia Aslam. The meeting focused on the continuous improvement of the Department’s academic programmes, with particular emphasis on curriculum enhancement, professional competencies, interdisciplinary learning, and alignment with contemporary educational needs. The Board approved a number of important academic initiatives for the B.Ed. programmes, including the introduction of professional certification requirements and new interdisciplinary learning opportunities. The Board also approved the introduction of Chinese Language as an Arts and Humanities course and “Artificial Intelligence” as an interdisciplinary course in the B.Ed. programmes. These initiatives reflect the Department’s efforts to broaden students’ academic exposure and equip future teachers with relevant skills in emerging areas of knowledge. In addition, the Board approved policies concerning student rejoining after semester freeze and mandatory internship for the relevant B.Ed. programmes. The Board also approved the revision of syllabi of selected existing courses to strengthen the academic standards of the Department, enhance curriculum relevance, and respond to evolving educational and professional requirements. The meeting was attended by Dr. Zarina Waheed, SBK Women University, Quetta; Dr. Kiran Hashmi, IBM, Karachi; Ms. Shahnaz Noor, Lecturer, Education Department, University of Gwadar; Mr. Mukhtar Bashir, Lecturer, Education Department, University of Gwadar; Mr. Abdul Hafeez, University of Gwadar; and Ms Farah from the Education Department. The members emphasized the importance of continuous curriculum development, academic quality assurance, professional preparedness, and the integration of contemporary and interdisciplinary learning within teacher education. The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to further strengthening the academic standards and quality of the Department of Education at the University of Gwadar.
