Progress on Promoting Blue Economy and Maritime Education at the University of Gwadar; Announcement of First Convocation in 2026.

A high-level meeting was held at the University of Gwadar under the chairmanship of Vice Chancellor Prof Dr. Abdul Razzaq Sabir, during which academic progress, future planning, and key institutional initiatives were reviewed. The meeting was attended by Pro Vice Chancellor Prof Dr. Syed Manzoor Ahmed, Dean Faculty of Social Sciences Prof Dr. Jan Muhammad, Registrar Dr. Daulat Khan, Controller Examination Dr Rahim Mehr, Dean Faculty of Engineering Dr. Mohibullah, along with chairpersons of various departments. The Vice Chancellor expressed satisfaction over the achievements attained by the University within a short span of just four years. He stated that the University of Gwadar is giving special focus, in line with regional needs and global trends, to disciplines related to the Blue Economy, Coastal Development Studies, CPEC, Maritime Studies, Marine Sciences, and Ocean Affairs. He emphasized that these fields are critically important for the sustainable development of Gwadar and the adjoining coastal regions. The Vice Chancellor also expressed satisfaction over the launch and progress of various skill development courses being offered under the Pak-China Technical and Vocational Institute, terming them a significant step toward enhancing students’ employability and practical skills. The meeting further discussed the commencement of classes for the new semester, with particular emphasis on ensuring regular attendance of faculty and students and the effective use of the biometric attendance system to maintain academic discipline. Detailed deliberations were also held on the launch of MS classes under the Department of Management Sciences, including matters related to class structure and scheduling. In addition, preparations for the second Traditional Business Gala 2026, organized by the University were reviewed, and it was decided to hold the event at the earliest. The gala will provide students with opportunities to engage in entrepreneurial activities, develop industry linkages, and gain practical exposure. The meeting also discussed plans to hold the first Convocation of the University of Gwadar in the first quarter of 2026. The Vice Chancellor directed the concerned committees to formally initiate preparations for this historic event so that it may be organized in a manner befitting the academic stature of the University. In his concluding remarks, Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Abdul Razzaq Sabir urged all administrative and academic heads to ensure mutual coordination, commitment, and timely implementation of the decisions taken during the meeting. He stated that a clear academic vision, focus on emerging disciplines, and adherence to quality standards will further strengthen the University of Gwadar’s role as a prominent institution of higher education in the coastal region.
