Governor Balochistan, Chancellor University of Gwadar Sheikh Jaffar Khan Mandokhail, emphasized that, in light of the transformative China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), the University of Gwadar carries a critical responsibility: to cultivate a highly educated and modern skilled workforce aligned with impending economic and trade shifts. He further underscored the imperative of organizing a nationally significant seminar adhering to international standards on the strategic importance and utility of the Blue Economy. Such a forum would guide both federal and provincial policymakers in crafting a holistic and forward-looking economic strategy. The Governor of Balochistan described the university as a trusted institution of research and intellectual leadership, where innovative ideas flourish and lasting solutions to societal challenges are forged. These remarks were made during his meeting with Vice Chancellor Prof Dr. Abdul Razzaq Sabir at the Governor’s House in Quetta.
Governor Mandokhail highlighted that scientific education is the most powerful tool available to reshape our economic and social systems. He urged robust encouragement of youth to pursue not only quality education but also cutting-edge skills. Such an approach would enable them to develop innovative solutions to local challenges, launch startups, and generate employment opportunities within the blue economy sector.
He called upon Vice Chancellor Dr. Abdul Razzaq Sabir and his team to establish strategic partnerships both nationally and internationally with institutions, research centres, and industry stakeholders. These collaborations should leverage modern expertise, resources, and funding to support mutually beneficial projects in Gwadar and beyond.
Lastly, the governor stressed the integration of environmentally sustainable practices and green technologies into the university’s operations, research initiatives, and community development programs. He emphasized that such integration is essential to preserve Gwadar’s unique biodiversity and natural heritage.
