University of Gwadar VC Participates in International Conference on Regional Cooperation in Higher Education

The Vice Chancellor of the University of Gwadar participated in the three-day International Conference organized by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) with the support of the World Bank, on the theme "Promoting South Asia Regional Cooperation in Higher Education (PSARCHE)," held from January 13th to 16th, 2025, in Islamabad. The event brought together heads of higher education bodies from SAARC countries, vice chancellors of all public sector universities in Pakistan, as well as policymakers and experts from across the region. Vice Chancellor of the University of Gwadar, Prof. Dr. Abdul Razzaq Sabir (TI), along with other VCs from Balochistan, actively participated in the event.

As the lead host, Prof. Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed, Chairman of HEC Pakistan, showcased the critical role of the HEC in mentoring universities and developing strategies to address shared regional challenges. The conference underscored the importance of cross-border partnerships and innovation in promoting sustainable development in higher education.

Both the opening and closing sessions highlighted Pakistan’s vision for an integrated educational framework, with delegates acknowledging the country’s leadership in advancing regional cooperation. Bangladesh’s thoughtful contributions during the closing session exemplified the humility and respect that drive regional progress.

The next PSARCHE conference, to be held in Bangladesh, will build on the initiatives launched in Pakistan, further enhancing educational ties and collaboration across South Asia. HEC Pakistan’s ongoing mentorship and guidance will ensure that the region continues to progress with a unified vision for academic excellence and innovation.
Additionally, the 54th meeting of the All Vice Chancellors Forum was held during the event.
