On the occasion of the 98th birthday of prominent Balochi writer and poet Syed Zahoor Shah Hashmi, a literary seminar and a photo exhibition were organized in the university's seminar hall on 25th April 2024 under the auspices of the Office of Research, Innovation, and Commercialization of Gwadar University.
The event was presided over by worthy Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr. Abdul Razzaq Sabir, while Syed Hashmi Academy Chairman Mr. Ali Essa and Balochistan University Professor Dr. AR Dad were among the chief guests.
In this event held in the main seminar hall of the university, Pro Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Syed Manzoor Ahmed, Registrar Dolat Khan, Controller of Examinations Dr. Rahim Bakhsh Mehr, Director Finance Shafi Muhammad, besides writers of Balochi language Asif Shafiq, Amber Sameen, K.B Faraq, apart from Majid Rahim Sohrabi, members of Balochi literary and civil society, academicians, faculty members, students and people from different walks of life participated.
In his speech on this occasion, the Vice Chancellor of the University Prof. Dr. Abdul Razzaq paid great tribute to Syed Hashmi and said that Syed is a reliable name in Balochi language and literature not only in Gwadar but in the entire province and the country.
Apart from this, the participants paid tribute to the life and literary services of Syed Zahoor Shah Hashmi in the ceremony. The participants said that the services of Syed Hashmi for the Balochi language have significantly strengthened the Balochi literary scene. In their address, the speakers reflected on the enduring legacy of Syed Hashmi's writings, which are a beacon for generations. They said that the commemorative event pays tribute to the life and literary services of Syed Zahoor Shah Hashmi.
In their speeches, the speakers emphasized the importance of the preservation and promotion of Balochi literature and appreciated the initiative of Gwadar University to organize such a grand event related to Syed Hashmi in this regard. A photo exhibition of Syed Hashmi on the theme "Syed Deed" at the University Corridor by Khair Jan Academy Gwadar depicted memorable moments from the life of Syed Hashmi, giving the audience a glimpse into the journey of the eminent writer and poet. At the end of the ceremony, Balochi singer Sameer Rahim recited the words of Syed Hashmi to the audience in his melodious voice and the production team of Khair Jan Art Academy presented a play written by Syed Hashmi. At the end of the ceremony, commemorative shields were presented to the guest speakers by the Vice-Chancellor University of Gwadar.
