University of Gwadar Approves BS Zoology Programs in Fisheries & Aquaculture and Marine Biology.

In a significant step aligned with Gwadar’s coastal identity and marine potential, the University of Gwadar has approved two specialized undergraduate programs: BS Zoology (Fisheries and Aquaculture) and BS Zoology (Marine Biology).
The approval came during the 1st Board of Faculty meeting of the Faculty of Science, Engineering, and Technology, chaired by Dr. Mohib Ullah, Dean of the Faculty. The meeting was attended by academic leaders including Dr Abdullah Assistant Prof Chemistary department, Prof. Zaheer, Professor of Zoology and Former Principal, Degree College Gwadar, UG, Ms. Haim Gul, Lecturer, Department of Computer Science, UG, Mr. Waseem Hameed, Lecturer, Department of Chemistry, UG, Ms. Sangeen Waleed, Lecturer, Department of Chemistry, UG and Dr. Rabia, Director, Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC), University of Gwadar and Hafeez Ullah Lecturer Computer Science Department UG participated via video link.
These newly launched programs are designed to equip students with cutting-edge knowledge and practical skills in marine and aquatic sciences. The BS in Fisheries and Aquaculture focuses on sustainable aquaculture, aquatic ecology, and fisheries management, while the BS in Marine Biology covers marine ecosystems, oceanography, and conservation science.
Prof. Zaheer, a veteran zoologist and subject expert, along with Dr. Rabia, Director of the Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC), commended the initiative, highlighting its relevance to both regional priorities and national development goals.
This academic advancement reflects the University of Gwadar’s growing leadership in marine sciences and its commitment to fostering research, innovation, and sustainable development through higher education—supporting the region's emerging blue economy.
