An inauguration ceremony for the Iqbaliyat Corner (Iqbal Corner) was held at the central library of the University of Gwadar. The event was chaired by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Abdul Razzaq Sabir. Distinguished guests included Dr. Abdul Rauf Rafiqi, Director General of the Iqbal Academy Pakistan, and Prof. Dr. Muhammad Saleem Mazhar, Director General of the National Language Promotion Department, who attended as special guests. Other participants included Dr. Zia-ur-Rehman Baloch from the Allama Iqbal Open University, Mehboob Khan Bugti, Tariq Bin Azad, Kamran Mushtaq from the National Language Promotion Department, and Dr. Tariq from the University of Turbat. On this occasion, Registrar Dr. Daulat Khan, Controller of Examinations Dr. Rahim Bakhsh Mehr, Dean Faculty of Social Sciences Prof. Dr. Jan Muhammad, Dean Faculty of Science and Engineering Dr. Mohebullah, Director Finance Rehmatullah, and other administrative officers were also present. Addressing the ceremony, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Abdul Razzaq Sabir stated that the establishment of the Iqbaliyat Corner at the University of Gwadar would help introduce students to the thought and philosophy of Allama Iqbal while also promoting research and academic activities. In their speeches, Dr. Abdul Rauf Rafiqi and Prof. Dr. Saleem Mazhar paid tribute to the Vice Chancellor’s services in promoting higher education in Balochistan, particularly in this region, as well as in advancing national languages. The distinguished guests remarked that this initiative by the University of Gwadar would prove to be an important milestone in the academic and literary sphere and should be followed by other higher education institutions. It was also shared during the ceremony that, according to a circular issued by the Chancellor’s Office, universities across the province had been directed to establish an Iqbaliyat Chair or Iqbal Corner. However, the University of Gwadar has become the first university in Balochistan to formally establish such a corner. Later, the Iqbaliyat Corner was formally inaugurated by Dr. Abdul Rauf Rafiqi of Iqbal Academy Lahore. On this occasion, a Memorandum of Understanding was also signed between the University of Gwadar, Iqbal Academy Lahore, and the National Language Promotion Department to promote academic and literary cooperation.
