The Chairman of the Higher Education Commission (HEC), Prof. Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed, emphasized the vital role of universities in Balochistan in advancing higher education and fostering academic excellence. Addressing a meeting with the vice-chancellors of Balochistan's universities held at BUITEMS Quetta, he highlighted the collaborative efforts needed to overcome challenges and ensure quality education that meets contemporary needs.
During his remarks, Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed shared that his visit to Quetta aimed to assess the challenges faced by universities in Balochistan and strengthen cooperation between the HEC, universities, and the provincial government. He encouraged academic institutions to continue facilitating students in the acquisition of modern and competitive education, assuring them of HEC’s support in this mission.
The Provincial Education Minister, Mrs. Rahila Hameed Durrani, appreciated the dedication of Balochistan's universities to promoting higher education despite limited resources. She acknowledged these institutions' financial and infrastructural challenges and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to addressing these issues through sustainable measures.
The meeting brought together vice-chancellors from all public-sector universities in Balochistan. Prof. Dr. Abdul Razzaq Sabir, representing the University of Gwadar, presented an overview of his university’s progress and outlined financial constraints while urging more robust support from HEC and the government.
VC UG also underscored the significance of collaborative efforts to overcome shared challenges and highlighted the University of Gwadar's contributions toward expanding academic opportunities in the coastal region.
The meeting concluded with a unanimous commitment to enhancing the quality of education and research in Balochistan and a resolve to work together to secure a brighter future for the province’s academic landscape.
