The opening ceremony of the four-day Gwadar Book Fair 2025 was held at RCDC Gwadar, attended by distinguished scholars and literary figures from across the country and province.
Speaking at the event, Vice Chancellor of the University of Gwadar, Professor Dr. Abdul Razzaq Sabir, emphasized that the book fair would serve as a milestone in fostering a reading culture among youth and promoting intellectual growth. He highlighted that nations that prioritize books and reading have always progressed.
Other notable speakers included renowned Balochi writer Prof Dr. A.R. Dad, former MPA Mir Hammal Kalmati, Deputy Commissioner of Gwadar Hamood Ur Rehman, distinguished educationist and former president Khuda Bakhsh Hashim, CEO of South Asia Partnership Pakistan Muhammad Tahseen, and environmental activist Nafeesa Rasheed. The speakers stressed the importance of books, stating that such events strengthen intellectual heritage and provide essential knowledge to the younger generation.
Following the opening ceremony, the book stalls were officially inaugurated by Vice Chancellor Dr. Abdul Razzaq Sabir, Khuda Bakhsh Hashim, and Muhammad Tahseen, who jointly cut the ribbon. The fair features a diverse collection of books on various subjects, attracting significant interest from readers and enthusiasts.
The Gwadar Book Fair will continue until Sunday.
