Closing Ceremony of the University of Gwadar Business & Cultural Gala 2026

The closing ceremony of the University of Gwadar Business & Cultural Gala 2026 was held with great dignity, enthusiasm, and public interest at the University of Gwadar. Students, faculty members, the local community, and distinguished personalities from various academic and government institutions participated in large numbers. This mega event not only provided a platform for showcasing the creative and entrepreneurial talents of youth but also proved to be an effective forum for highlighting the cultural and economic identity of Gwadar and the Makran region.
The closing ceremony was presided over by the Vice Chancellor, University of Gwadar, **Prof. Dr. Abdul Razzaq Sabir**, while Brigadier Waqar Ahmed Qureshi (Commander 440 Brigade) was the Chief Guest. The guests of honor included DIG Police Imran Qureshi, Pro Vice Chancellor **Prof. Dr. Syed Manzoor Ahmed**, and Chairman of Gwadar District, Shay Mukhtar. On this occasion, Registrar Dr. Daulat Khan, Controller of Examinations Dr. Rahim Bakhsh Mehr, President Gwadar Press Club Noor Mohsin, Deans, Heads of Departments, government officers, social leaders, and journalists also attended in large numbers.
In his presidential address, Vice Chancellor **Prof. Dr. Abdul Razzaq Sabir** expressed heartfelt gratitude to the distinguished guests for their participation and paid rich tribute to the organizers, faculty, and students for the successful conduct of the Business & Cultural Gala. He stated that such events play a key role in connecting students with practical life while highlighting Gwadar’s economic, business, and cultural potential.
The Vice Chancellor extended special thanks to the Provincial Government of Balochistan and the Chief Minister of Balochistan, Mir Sarfraz Bugti, for their cooperation and support, under whose patronage this mega event was successfully organized. He also expressed gratitude to the Governor of Balochistan and Chancellor, Sheikh Jaffar Khan Mandokhail, for his patronage. In addition, he thanked the Gwadar district administration, Gwadar Development Authority, and other supporting institutions and individuals. Appreciating the performance of the gala organizers, the Vice Chancellor congratulated them and commended journalists for their comprehensive and positive coverage of the event.
On this occasion, Chief Guest Brigadier Waqar Ahmed Qureshi, in his address, praised the educational, research, and social activities of the University of Gwadar and stated that the Business & Cultural Gala is an excellent means of highlighting the talents of youth and providing them with practical experience. He said that such events foster self-confidence among the youth of Gwadar and strengthen their role in national development.
The Business & Cultural Gala 2026 comprised a wide range of activities, including business startups, IT projects, scientific models, arts and crafts, cultural stalls, and folk music. Overall, seventy-five business stalls, eighteen IT projects, sixteen scientific projects, and thirty-five arts and crafts projects were exhibited, while cultural and traditional music stalls added a regional flavor to the event. In addition, blood donation camps were also established as part of social responsibility initiatives.
Along with the University of Gwadar, students and youth from the University of Turbat, Lasbela University Uthal, and Makran University Panjgur participated in the Business Gala. Students from Degree College Gwadar, Atta Shad Degree College Turbat, and other educational institutions also took part, transforming the event into a representative regional-level program.
During the Business & Cultural Gala, various competitions were organized to highlight the outstanding performance of students and educational institutions, including arts exhibitions, business stalls, IT projects, and scientific models. In the Arts Exhibition, Shahzaib Sakhi Dad (New Town Grammar School) secured first position, Azka Tayyab (University of Gwadar) second, and Shakir Murad (The School of Art Gwadar) third. In the Business Stall competition, Queue Dot (Qurratulain Ameer, University of Gwadar) won first position, FS Shopping (Fakhra) second, and Biryani & Ice Cream Corner (Muzammil Islam, Gwadar Grammar School) third. In the IT Projects competition (Code and Beyond), Dehyar (Meer Dost Rahim, University of Turbat) secured first position, A.I Squad (Hafiz Salahuddin, Lasbela University) second, and Sehat A.I (Sheer Naz, University of Gwadar) third. In the Science Model Exhibition, Gwadar Grammar School (Abdul Ahad) won first position, Atta Shad Degree College Turbat (Israr Luqman) second, and the University of Gwadar (Sakhi Dad) third.
During the closing ceremony, shields and certificates were distributed among participants, stall organizers, and volunteers who demonstrated outstanding performance. The University of Gwadar Business & Cultural Gala 2026 stands as a clear testament to the institution’s commitment not only to quality education but also to the promotion of cultural identity, entrepreneurial innovation, and social harmony.
Prior to the award distribution ceremony, the Chief Guest Brigadier Waqar Hashmi, distinguished guest IG Police Gwadar Imran Hashmi, and Chairman Gwadar District Shai Mukhtar, along with the Vice Chancellor and Pro Vice Chancellor, conducted a detailed visit to various stalls. They showed keen interest in the creative works on display and appreciated the efforts of the students.
In view of public interest, strong participation, and public demand, it was decided to extend the Business & Cultural Gala by one additional day and continue it until Thursday, 5 February.
